Faffing about with craft
I've been doing crafts in various forms for a number of years, from making my own clothes, embroidery, knitting and crochet through to making cards. I don't have any fancy equipment for the cards, just a selection of stamps and papers, but thoroughly enjoy 'faffing about' and seeing what I come up with.

Notebook
My lovely notebook
Looking a bit battered now, but it was a cheap notebook, 15p from Wilkinsons, covered with some lovely paper and then the words stamped using a magnetic stamp set I bought ages ago!

Tea Light Card
Tea-Light-Card
I found this and thought it looked interesting, but, to be honest, it was far too much faffing about.
Now I quite like faffing, but this was above and beyond.
So I decided to look into a few options.
Most involved using fancy scoring tools, or kits you bought for lots of money. I don't have lots of money, so it was back to the drawing board.

Digital downloads
I've normally used old fashioned rubber stamps, but have recently, thanks to another crafter flyin_fresian I've found the wonders of digital downloads.
Most have restrictions for personal use only, some have limits to how many you can sell. None of which applies to me as I purely make for pleasure.
These are the latest, I've no idea what I'm going to use them for!

Cards for a friend
A friend asked me to make a few cards that she could keep in her desk at work. So I wasn't going to spend lots of money, needed to use things that were already in my stash.
That kept me occupied this week.
I wanted to keep them with a similar theme, and also it saved me taking too much with me.
The result is these three...

Sewing machines
For many years I have managed to sew using a machine that used to belong to my Nan.
It's an ancient Singer, and used to be a treadle machine, until Nan's brother fitted it with an electric motor.
I've since thrown the motor away, think it's too dangerous, but love the machine as a hand machine, but it does have its disadvantages.
Firstly, it weighs a ton
Secondly, it only does one stitch, and in one direction. Reverse involves a complicated process of feeding the material back through the other way. Fine for a cushion cover, not very good for curtains!

For years I've 'lusted' after the fancy modern machines, but on reading a few things, realised that actually the old mechanical type machines were hard to beat. In particular Sewing machine site has some really useful info for owners of ancient machines like mine.
Then, yesterday I was in John Lewis, and saw this
It made my heart sing, and its £50!
But I resisted, I've no sewing projects on at the moment, so can't justify it, but I can drop hints....

Small Christmas gift
I started to make some small Christmas items, and even got so far as to take some photo's.
But then I couldn't get them from the camera phone.
Eventually, after much swapping of mini sd cards, I achieved it.

And with this little kit, I've made a few things, not all of them have been photographed yet, but here's the little bookmark - still needs to have a tassel put on it, and some card behind it.
